Dear valued SASCA Member
We are living in uncertain times in a world that is on full alert as it tries to deal with the global Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. As of this morning, there were 170,000 confirmed cases with over 6,500 deaths. South Africa’s cases stood at 61.
The pandemic has sent large parts of the world into lockdown and South Africa has been pro-active, with our Government enforcing wide-ranging restrictions. “If we act together, if we act now, and if we act decisively, we will overcome it,” President Cyril Ramaphosa told the nation.
While the virus presents a disruption amongst all our athletes and team preparation plans, our appeal to members is to exercise initiatives and be creative in simulating Olympic level competition that we are accustomed to, but doing so in our home environments. We encourage you to be flexible, innovative and creative in your sports coaching sessions – although the priority is prioritizing safety for everyone involved in these events.
We encourage you to adhere to the rules as issued by the World Health Organisation when it comes to hygiene and social distancing. Be safe in these trying times and look after yourself.
Kind regards
The SASCA team
